How Our Dealers Sell Remote Guarding
Recently, we sat down with Mike Richardson, COO of Spartan Security Systems, and Aaron Whitaker, Owner of Preventia Security, two of Becklar Monitoring’s dealers, to discuss how their businesses have benefited from selling remote guarding.
With Spartan Security Systems, selling remote guarding was an easy choice! According to Mike: “Our team finds it easy to sell because remote guarding is proactive, which a lot of customers want. Our customers are investing a lot of money in their security systems, so we’re trying to give them the best system possible, and remote guarding makes it an active, not a passive system. For us, we’ve seen an over 50% increase in crime deterrence with remote guarding, especially with the live audio talk down.”
And for Preventia Security, Aaron and his team were early adopters of cloud monitoring and have had a specific interest in remote guarding and live video verification for a while. Aaron said, “There was a learning curve for our salespeople, but in the end, while there is an increased monthly cost initially, there is a huge cost reduction when you’re able to stop using physical guards. You can show those significant savings to your customers, and that’s a big selling point. It also allows customers who don’t have the budget for a physical guard to have the same (and actually better) services with remote guarding, and at a cheaper cost.”
The Effect of Remote Guarding on Your Bottom Line
Aaron and the Preventia team have experienced their biggest success story in verticals where customers are required by their insurance to have live video verification. For example, large construction sites that are mandated by their insurance providers, have seen tremendous value in remote guarding. It has allowed them to protect their high value materials, protect site perimeters 24/7, and thus set a high security standard for all of their job sites.
For Spartan Security Systems, Mike shared a different type of success story. In dealing with a Homeowners Association (HOA) client, they found out that the housing complex had a pool that was only monitored via static cameras. Some residents had decided to ignore the locked gates and beeping camera, and go to the pool after hours, bringing a child with them. Unfortunately, they weren’t paying attention to the child, and as the pool wasn’t staffed, the child got into trouble and almost drowned. If the HOA had implemented remote guarding and live audio intervention, our remote operators would have been able to intervene and proactively warn the adults in real time. Since this incident, the HOA has implemented the Eyeforce interactive talk down to verbally engage with intruders, give warnings that can’t be ignored, and potentially save lives.
Mike also shared another incident that involved a fire emergency. One of Spartan’s clients was a shopping mall struggling with drifters, vandalism, and other unwelcome intruders. One of those individuals set a fire in the mall and almost burned the whole structure to the ground. Following that incident, the mall installed remote guarding to stop the intruders, not only protecting the mall, but the people that were within the structure. As Mike said, “Let’s get this stopped; let’s nip it in the bud before it becomes an issue.”
