A year ago, Armstrongs, A Becklar Company, unveiled a revolutionary facility in Laval, Quebec—one that has since redefined monitoring excellence across Canada. As we celebrate the first anniversary of this cutting-edge site, we’re proud to reflect on the technology, people, and purpose that have made this past year nothing short of remarkable.
In its first year of operation, the Laval Centre has managed a staggering 451,000 operator-handled incidents. Backed by a team of 70 skilled bilingual professionals specializing in all types of critical event monitoring, the Laval, Quebec centre delivers rapid, accurate support to subscribers coast-to-coast. Aiding in this mission is our SMART Protection Platform supported by AVA (Artificial Voice Assistant), which efficiently redirected over 106,000 medical false alarms, helping reduce emergency system overload and improving prioritization of genuine threats to live operators in an industry-leading 9-second response time.
The Laval monitoring station is no ordinary monitoring station. The Laval site functions as a high-performance, fully redundant data centre, purposely built to act as the central hub for all Canadian subscriber data and receiver infrastructure. This isn’t just about technology—it’s about creating a resilient foundation for faster and more efficient service.
Becklar’s continuous investment in Canada has led to the installation of industry-leading systems in the Laval station, including our proprietary Toll-Free Reroute Technology, which enables intelligent routing of toll-free communications across multiple pathways. This technology allows us to leverage primary, secondary, and tertiary routes, helping us to protect against single-point failures and guarantee uninterrupted signal flow, even under duress.
Additionally, our influential partnerships with major telecom providers such as TELUS and Bell ensure a robust, low-latency network backbone, critical for the real-time delivery of alarm transmissions. These collaborations enable the Laval operation to maintain unmatched availability and responsiveness, even in challenging conditions.
At the heart of it all is security. The Becklar IT division has implemented advanced virtualization frameworks, ensuring that our automation platforms remain operational and scalable. The Laval facility meets and exceeds ULC compliance standards, underscoring our commitment to maintaining the highest benchmarks in reliability and safety. To protect customer data, our systems employ state-of-the-art encryption protocols, both during transmission and while stored. Continuous real-time monitoring of our digital ecosystem ensures that anomalies are swiftly addressed, and vulnerabilities are rapidly mitigated—ensuring peace of mind for every subscriber we serve.
